MCSE: Security on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Certification Requirements

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE): Security candidates on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 track are required to pass five core exams and three security specialization exams.

The following tables list Official Microsoft Learning Products and Microsoft Press books that are designed to help you prepare for the required exams. See the individual exam preparation guides for exam availability.


Core exams (five exams required)

Core exams: networking system (four exams required)

Exam 70–2903: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

Exam 70-2913: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure

Exam 70-2933: Planning and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure

Exam 70-2943: Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure


Core exams: client operating system (one exam required)

Exam 70-270: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Exam 70-2102: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

Exam 70–620: TS: Microsoft Windows Vista, Configuring


Security specialization (three exams required)

Security specialization: core design (one exam required)

Exam 70-298: Designing Security for a Windows Server 2003 Network

Security specialization: core security (two exams required)

Exam 70-299: Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network

Exam 70-227: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, Enterprise Edition

Exam 70-350: Implementing Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004
